Distinguished Guests, Ladies, and Gentlemen:
It is with immense pleasure and honor that I extend a warm welcome to each and every one of you to the 14th International Conference on Earth Observations and Social Impacts (ICEO&SI), hosted by the Taiwan Group on Earth Observations (TGEO). This significant gathering is made possible through the collaborative efforts of TGEO and the esteemed National United University (NUU). Allow me to express my heartfelt gratitude to Distinguished Professor and President Wen-Cheng Liu, whose exemplary leadership and dedication have paved the way for the meticulous planning and execution of this exceptional event. |
Since its inception, TGEO has been steadfast in its mission to foster international cooperation and exchange. Established in 2010 with the inaugural Workshop on Earth Observations, TGEO has been instrumental in convening the ICEO&SI annually, providing a vital platform for scientists to address the pressing global challenges facing humanity. Notably, in 2014-2015, TGEO, alongside GISA of Japan and KAGIS of Korea, spearheaded the formation of the International Association of Geo-informatics (IAG'i), a collaborative endeavor aimed at sharing advancements in Remote Sensing, Geographic Information Systems, Global Navigation Satellite Systems, and beyond. This initiative culminated in the establishment of IAG'i and its subsequent annual assemblies hosted by the founding countries. Moreover, in 2019, during the GISA Annual Meeting in Tokushima, Japan, it was unanimously agreed upon by the three associations to welcome new international bodies into the fold of IAG'i. Following the IAG'i meeting in Taiwan in 2024, the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology (VAST) agreed to join IAG'i through a memorandum.
In addition, the International Conference on Earth Observations and Natural Hazards (ICEO&NH), a sister conference of ICEO&SI, has become an important platform for knowledge exchange since its inception in 2017, playing an integral role in observation discussions.
Over the years, the ICEO&SI conference has welcomed more than 2,150academics, researchers, engineers, and students from over 23 countries across five continents. Their participation has resulted in fruitful exchanges and valuable insights, leading to more than 1,251 papers, many of which have been published in prestigious journals. As we come together for IAG'i and ICEO&SI 2025, we are committed to upholding this tradition of excellence and ensuring a rich experience for all participants.
Finally, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the organizers and contributors of this conference for their tireless efforts in making this event possible. I warmly invite you all to experience the rich Hakka culture and the natural beauty of Miaoli County, and wish you a pleasant and rewarding experience at the conference.
